New uber planets suggestions

PatPatrik's Photo PatPatrik 08 Apr 2016

I think that Uber Planet - is a cool idea, so there is my suggestions for this option.

First of all - it will be fair and logical, that Uber planet must be equal of Gaia planet in the line of production. Un other words - Ubep planet upgrade must be ultimate upgrade, not penultimate like in current game. It will add certainly diversity to the last part of the game, instead of current "Gaia Galaxy", which is pretty boring.

Ok, lets roll.

Bulrathi - Thundra biome => Syberia (or Taiga)

Since Bulrathi sound like stereotypical russians in modern MoO, and looks like a bears, i think this variant will be appropriate

Meklars - Radiation biome => Cyber World

Planet-City or Planet-Computer, something similar to Cybertrone or Coruscant in SW (Radiation - because solar radiation will supply woldwide planetary batteries)

Alkari - Terran biome => High Rock (or Pandora)

If you remember Avatar movie, there was "flying islands" in sky battle scenes, so i think world of this type will be ideal for Alkari.

Humans - Ocean biome => Paradise planet

This is like one from 5th element movie - Fhloston paradise, place where people from all corners of galaxy can spend their vacations =)

Terrans - Desert biome (or Toxic) => Prison planet (Gulag)

This one is similar Geidi Prime or Selusa Secundus from Dune. Since Terrans is all about struggle and oppression, so dark and depressive worlds is their theme, i think.

It's just example, how devs can expand and enrich the game. Im not talking about that new Uber planets must be exactly as i proposed, i (and i think everyone else) just want more cool content for one of my favorite game ^)

I really like your suggestions, would you want it so that all worlds could receive this Uber Planet transformation? I would prefer it was made system unique so they remain important and unusual to have.

I second, that they should be better than Gaia and would like to add the bonuses be focuses on the races goal. So Terran uber planet would give a production bonus on ships, Psilon's increased research, Klackon population for example. The Human world gives great diplomacy bonuses for most races and so on.

Spoiler

Umm, I am not sure any lifeform would ever want to live on a planet consisting entirely of tundra and taiga.

Reading about the Terran khanate I get more of a game of thrones-like backstabby-stabby action, and not so much a Stalin-like "I am purging your entire family, because You looked at me funny."

The Terran Khanate is a bunch of exiled humans, and although They are ruled over by the Khan of Khans, I am not so sure that They are like the Imperium from W40k.

Coming from the short story the staff posted on the US forums I get this:

"I will do justice to our people and give them the stars that They deserve"

kind of vibe from Khan Alexander.

It's like, He is ruthless and would do anything to get what He wants, but He still cares for his people(or at least for their legacy). I am not sure whether He personally has the ambition to rule the stars or whether He wants them for the Terran people.

He's kinda like Reinhardt from Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

They, Well He(Khan Alexander) definitely do/does not seem like a barbaric dictator/s to me. More of a Napoleon, Caesar or Alexander kinda stuff.

Why not? =) Anyway, it will be limited by fact, that every race can make just one type of uber planet upgrade, so galaxy diversity still takes place.

Good idea. I think it can be implemented to races capital planets exclusivly (you know, every race will have personal Galaxy seat of power :). So conquering of enemy capital planet will be more rewarding, and more painful for you rival.

Well, we have Jungle world (im not talking about such hospitable place as "Inferno"), so why not? =)

Im sure, every russian "stalinist" will say that Stalin repressed people ("enemies of nation", that is) not because of personal paranoia, but because he want make the USSR strong and united in dire circumstances (and he did it - they crushed the Nazis). Political repressions were called by historical necessity. Without labor camps there was no industrial recovery. Ets., ets. Or something like that.

And official site of MoO tells the story about Terrans (with few cuts):

They were born of blood and war, leaving them unable to move past the traumas of their development. All they see is war. All they know is power, destruction, and ruthless manipulation. They see the galaxy as a lawless space ruined by social freedoms run rampant, leading the races to weakness and decay. Dire circumstances called for radical solutions in the eyes of the Khan as he ordered bloody purges to stem the tide of deviancy, corruption, and greed. Castes were established and dissidents were hushed. All roots of humanity were burned away. They intend to use their power to guide the errant races to the path of strength, or the will of the Khan, by forcefully removing their weakest aspects so the strong may thrive.

So they looks like space-nazi (or space-commies Stalin-style) to me. Cause "bloody purges, "hushing" dessidents, social darwinism, caste system" - it's their theme undoubtedly.

Spoiler

Yeah, That is kinda right.

The devs gave rather dystopian backgrounds to nearly all the races.

Given that They managed to advance their technology to levels capable of FTL spacetravel, I find it hard to believe that a society so..terrible can function properly to start planetary colonization.

So I just make up custom stuff inside me.

Anyway.

The Inferno planets are for the Silicoids, no? After all They are made of rock or something.

Also Uber planets are just renamed/reskinned Terran planets. Their only benefit is that You can skip a terraforming action. Or something like that. I think They are maybe slightly better than Terran planets. I don't know.

But since They aren't toppled by Gaia, they will be terraformed.

So other than the Inferno I don't know about their uses.

Maybe It would be better If They would not give like, plus food.

Like, You could terraform planets into Uber ones, instead of Gaia ones.

Like.

For Mrrshan, and maybe Bulrathi You could make Fortress Worlds- from Terran, which would have way more space for marines, like 30-50 or so. And stronger starbases and planetary defense systems. Although limited number of them and for like 50-100 combat points.

For Sakkra, like Brood Worlds- from Swamp, in which there would be increased population growth, like +50%, but no more space. so They could heavily speed up colonization.

For the Meklar and Klackon Forge Worlds- from Vulcanic planets, great production bonus, like Industrial powerhouses for your empire.

And other than that the Silicoids could get the Inferno from volcanic planets, for like plus Food for them or whatever They will get.

Or something like this.
