LOL. But yes, it's a bit easy. Have you tried after yesterdays patch, it's supposed to have a few AI improvements?

Just a few?

It would need some massive improvements to make it even halfway challenging.

The Ai is as intelligent and as aggressive as a loaf of bread currently (at least before the last patch).

After playing through it twice without any challenge I will not touch the game until there is a real improvement.

You are aware that they haven't even started to implement anything that makes you lose the game?

I think the approach is ok: they made the game very easy at the moment so that evreybody could toy with it.

The more comments I read here in the forum the more I think that giving an early Betaversion without Balancing to the customers was not a good idea.

Well in a game that relies so heavily on the interaction with the AI, that is a real issue even for a early Beta.

If that does not work the only feedback I can give the developers is, yes it is shiny and new and if I click on an icon it does something nice.

Maybe my views are wrong but I always thought when developing a game you first lay the ground works like how does economy work, AI, technical aspects and then lay on the optical effects.  Currently most of the groundwork seems to be unfinished and/or broken, and I am not sure you can fix it in 4 months.

If you build a house you normally start with the cellar and not the roof.

@Boomer7

I agree with you that this is work for more then 4 months I think this should take 7-8 months or more. I think the people behind the developers will release the game if it is done or not... :(

This game is at the moment nothing more then the pure engine of "WHAT" is going to work and not "HOW" it is going to work.

I think the "optical effects" are a lot easier to finish if you have the right people and they do their artist work. Beside: you can do that without a lot interaction. However: balancing is not as easy as doing art in my opinion. You don't know from the start what will work and what will fail. It is a lot "trial and error" and if they are clever they are grapping loads of data at the moment from every user who is connected with his account!

When I briefly checked one of their videos or the developer diaries, they said something about a challenging A.I. - yes of course you would expect an A.I. to be already in the game based on these comments. What they currently have are some scripts or rules it seems, not even an A.I.

I found the game that unchallenging that I do not want to play it a 2nd time. They could have done a better job by providing the initial release with AT LEAST some predefined build orders and initial objectives. Or they could have clearly stated, A.I. is completely missing, becuase that is true.

While you could state, OK, its not in there, they ll be delivering this, but then you look at a recent post about all the stuff they want to work on: Linux support, more races, you name it. Mentioning all this stuff while the basics are not in place makes me wonder if the priorities are correct and if the team has estimated correctly what it takes to implment the more difficult stuff. Afterall they are not building a browser/mobile game here. The races have 0 differentation and they want to add new ones...

My only comment would be first things first, if they have a parllel team working on it, fine.

found it, from 2:15 to 3:10 they talk about competitive AI, surprising AI etc - of course when they talk like that you would expect them to have implemented this already. based on those comments I bought the early access. but on the AI end it has been a complete disappointment and many other areas look less polished. why does auto build start with a space elevator???? you will build that on few planets as you need to focus on econ ALWAYS first pretty much.

like structure management, that is like the most inefficient way to `manage` your buildings, good look finding it there, we need a table, see the effects and cost.

I don't know.... what about the other things he is talking about? Is the game already "multiplatform" on MAX and Linux?

So why should the AI be in the game? I think they have some prototypes but they are not in the game for balancing issues.

I had a very close situation... I was at war with the sakra, and tried to make a trade and a research treaty with the catpeople. They agreed but wanted a certain payment. I agreed and has -150 mc.

So next turn all my fleed was sold and all starbases, and the sakkra attacked.

Actually thats funny, I had a similar situation, i wanted to explore peaceful options so I negoiated with Psilon and then accepted something with a 100 annual payment. No one said anywhere that 1 turn is 1 year and the wording about ithe payment being spread is also confusing.

So I was stuck with this terrible agreement and tried to revert the latest agreement, great! They were pissed off and I was still paying the 100/turn and they would not talk to me!!! I was stuck with this payment and I could not do ANYTHING about. Had it been higher, probably all my fleets would have been sold. I probably would not have lost, because no one would have attacked, but I would have been without ships for a while.

Devs: Implement a screen where you can unilaterally cancel any agreement, if that leads to WAR, fine...
