Good :) Thought I think its still pretty bare. There should be more backgrounds behind the things in menus, like a laboratory behind the chief researcher, a command center behind the military commander and so on, but it is still in closed beta, I hope that WG will dont keep it this bare and simple :)

The races... so its all going for the MoO1, okay. The Meklar are fine as they are, thought I would really like to see the shape of MoO2 Meklars in, just without the organic being in it, but the "hunchback" body for a soldier may be great :D The Psilons, I think that they are too much like Greys. Maybe if they were given more wrinkled faces like MoO2 version it may give them more of "being Psilon" vibe than "being Grey" :) And Darlok... the red glowing eyes should have been there, but that they look like Humans, I can understand it but would be happier to see their own original body of a shapeshifter than masquerade as a Human. It will be enough that beside Humans there will be Elerians who are human-like with longer ears, if they will come in :) But, I am pretty much satisfied with it, for now :)

Talk about a let down.  Civ in space.  Once again.  Assign workers.  Make buildings.  Research on the good old tech tree.  It's a remake of the 2nd MoO - please don't ever say again that this has anything to do with the original.  Ugh.  Why is everybody doing the same game over and over again?

Signing off and going back to the old '93 classic.  Have fun.

Whats wrong with MoO2? I havent played the first game, but second is by me the best X4 game of all time, which was never surpassed by any other.

Not saying MoO2 is bad.  It was a nice game.  Maybe it wasn't surpassed by any other 4X AFTER IT, but there were so many other games that remixed it, in a galactic setting or otherwise, I find it disappointing that this game is going to be yet another clone of MoO2 (and even then, they managed to dump MoO 2 research to make place for a tech tree that's all but original, tsk tsk).  Those mechanics from MoO2, we've seen in SO many games... It's not bad, but it's far from original.  Why would I want to play yet ANOTHER Civilization game or Civ in space game?  There's no innovation here; this reboot lacks courage.

MoO 1 is ugly as hell, but it's still the best 4X game I have ever played.  And I have played a lot.  Of course, it's my opinion, but I think it would be shared by most, had they played many games of MoO 1.  No game has ever used most of the core concepts of the game; most importantly, I think: no building/citizen micro-management and secret random tech tree.  It was relatively simple, yet very, very deep.  You couldn't just re-use the same strategy over and over again; you had to adapt to your tech tree, to your neighbors fleet and research...  And the scope was galactic.  I loved that you could build thousands of fighters to swarm your enemy.

I urge you to try it, and stick to it for a while to have a taste of its delicious, delicious marrow.  If you can get over the ugliness, you'll find a true gem where every decision you make is interesting.  I don't have fun anymore with games where you spend your time programming building queues... or watch a "governor" do it poorly in your stead.

Had they remade MoO1, with nice graphics and a fix on a few little glitches and a little upgrade on the tactical combat, you would have had the greatest 4X for ages to come.  And people would've praised how fresh it is on the 4X scene, since MoO1 is not that known...  In the mean time, I think MoO1 still holds the title.

Sometimes, less is better.

What an awsome 20 year old looking game. Looks more like an App for a smart phone than a cutting edge computer game of 2015. You can just see the big icons for the touch screens.
